We've created a rideshare doc, and have a channel in our telegram chat for pairing open seats with carless butts. We won’t let you get stuck in portland. Do all you can, but if you fail, we got you. (isnt this such a nice thing about small events)
Elkenmist is 90 minutes from Portland. Here’s an approximate map point, for your planning needs
That's fine. This is more of a philosophical statement. Often, one group is responsible for providing the Product, and the other group is responsible for consuming it. We're trying for something a little more collaborative. Less of a demand, it's more an offer to put power in the hands of attendees.
We’ve strung the guitar. Now, we make it sing, together. You contribute your company and your Selfness. It's fine to just come to vibe. It's also fine to do something outlandish. You can make a cake in the shape of Rahu and behead it in on Sunday afternoon. You can bring your drums. You can ask for us to write on the daily activity board that you would like to trade divination at 4pm.
This is designed to put power in your hands. we're not in total control. you, too, are throwing the party.
we suggest pdx. its closest, and, if you need a ride, has the most attendees traveling to and from.
absolutely. 1. we have a lending library stocked by other local north starians, and Elkenmist also is offering to lend some folks some tents. You’ll want to confirm with someone that you can borrow a tent from them! This will be facilitated by the north star telegram group - the invite to which you'll get when you register.
as of 6/21, we have 30 people attending. We expect 40-80.
Friday morning & afternoon will be people rolling in, setting up, and settling in. 3pm is the earliest prgramming is expected to start. This specific time is slightly subject to change, plus or minus 3 hours. we'll be "done" on 4pm sunday, but the blessed among you may feel like sticking around to assist with breakdown.
Elkenmist has plenty of water, but we suggest every camper bring in enough drinking water for themselves, so we can go lightly on their water table as possible. A common suggestion is 1 gallon per person per day. There will be hand washing stations by the composting toilets and kitchen The land has a gorgeous brook running through it. Water levels are unpredictable in the summer, but it is likely to be suitable for anyone with an reliable filtration system
Love that energy. volunteering is a great way to make friends and feel like you've got something specific to do. IT's also a great way to support the event. Breakfast set up, altar set up, camp takedown, parking on friday- all these things will be ripe for help.
Elkenmist’s own resident caterer Sarah will be planning prepping and serving lunch & dinner for us each day. Breakfast will be a more laid back affair set out by sarah and assembled by volunteers.
